School of the Prophets Junior Year Curriculum Overview (Year 1)
SEMESTER 1
The Character of a Prophet
This course will enable the student to understand the importance of allowing God to develop character in the life of the believer. Every prophet of God must be of the utmost integrity. He will be able to recognize and measure the development of his character. Without character, the prophet is doomed to failure. “Though I speak with tongues of men and angels and have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.” I Cor. 13:1.
The Development of a Prophet
This course is designed to spotlight the development process a prophet or leader goes through in order to prepare him for the assignment from God. We will learn the development takes “time.” We cannot hurry the process or afford to miss some steps. We will examine the prophets and their paths God ordained or allowed, and analyze the importance of each. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10.
The Role of a Prophet
Prophets are one of the 5-fold ministry gifts given to the Body of Christ at Christ’s ascension. They are for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. Therefore, it is imperative that the role or purpose is known. We will review and come to a clear understanding of what is expected of a prophet and how does he/she function.
SEMESTER 2
Understanding Motive Gifts I & II
This course centers on the Romans 12 motivational gifts that God has placed in each of us. Through this course the students will learn to identify the gifts within themselves and to understand how they operate and interact with other gifts. God has uniquely designed the Body of Christ to function as one in order to further his Kingdom on earth. We are made in his image and likeness for the purpose of fulfilling our God-given destinies.
The Role of the Apostle & Prophet
This course is designed to highlight the 5-fold ministry gifts, and specifically the apostle and the prophet. The student will gain clear insight on how the gifts are designed by God to work together. They are distinctly different in their functions, yet bring wholeness to the body when each are operating as designed. It is similar to how the fingers on a hand bring strength to each other. Ephesians 4:11-13 reference.
SEMESTER 3
Understanding Dreams & Visions I & 2
God is constantly speaking, in the night, in the middle of the day, yet his children are questioning whether they hear his voice clearly. This course will help the student discover the voice of God and how to distinguish it from other voices when he speaks through dreams and visions. Once they are assured of his voice, they are free to operate in the manner he has designed. They will succeed.
We will explore the various types of dreams and visions, and understand how God will help us interpret them, wait for them to come to pass, and what to do while we are waiting.
Types of Prophetic Voices
This course is designed to enlighten and clarify the various types of prophetic voices. It by no means describes all of them, because God is infinite and can use whatever and whomever He wills to express Himself.
We will further explore the various prophetic styles and characteristics of the prophets and seers. We will also navigate through the differences in how prophetic words are relayed to the person speaking, and to the people hearing the message. We will touch on personality types and God’s desire to use the different personalities and characteristics to reveal his communication to his people.
SEMESTER 4
Understanding People and the Anointing
In this course, insight will be given to help the student understand and effectively interact with various people and gifting. We will review the virtues and character traits necessary to live a full rewarding and productive life in the Kingdom of God. We will explore foundational truths in the Word of God and delve into meanings and understandings of various words in their original intent. The primary goal is to look at the Holy Spirit and His anointing on our lives. What releases the anointing and what hinders its flow. Why are we anointed and what is it for?
Prophetic Leadership
This course is designed to help the student understand leadership. God’s design of leadership is infallible; it works every time. Throughout history we see that men and women are selected to lead God’s people forward. Sometimes it’s the leading into battle, and at other times it’s the leading into reaping the spoils. There are key components to leadership that when followed will produce the desired outcome. On the same hand, when ignored or resisted, the opposite will occur. We will explore the attributes necessary in developing a true leader. We will also compare various leadership styles. We will explore what makes a great leader, and what is success.
How To Handle Notoriety
In this course we will take a close look at notoriety and fame. It’s very important for a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to be without desire for fame and fortune. He must love the Lord his God with all his heart, mind, soul, and strength, and be rooted and grounded in love.
We will discuss people and learn how to handle the praises and the criticisms of man. Since pride comes before a fall, we will be dissecting “pride,” its causes and detriments. And finally we will conclude with how we are to see all men, and the grace of God which abounds.
